Please Help Me Understand Team Snap…
What is TeamSnap?
It’s a software that keeps coaches and team managers somewhat more sane as we try to organize information from all our participating families. It helps with communicating quickly, and having the right information in one place. That being said, it is also quite useful to you, the parent and player.
Am I on TeamSnap?
Well, that depends if you accepted an email invitation that was sent by Coach Novak to you, via the software. There’s no cost to players and parents. You have to accept the invitation, then you will be linked into the software.
Until you do this, the message under your player’s name reads “Invitation Pending.”
Am I suppose to do something with TeamSnap?
Yes. First, in order to access the website, you need to accept the email invitation that is sent to you.
Next, you should go to your player’s profile, under the ‘ROSTER’ tab, along the top of the screen.
There, please enter the contact and personal information you would like to share?
Can I keep my cell phone numbers, or email private?
Certainly. Just select the “Private” box next to the email entry, or the cell phone entry. “Private” keeps your number private except to those TeamSnap users who have Team Manager status (Coach Novak and our Parent Team Manager).
Why does it ask for my cellular carrier?
Team snap allows Coach Novak to send out text messages. Text messages are really important for short notice messages (SEVERE WEATHER, etc.). This is especially important for players who use texting more frequently than email (but does not dismiss a player's responsibility to have email connectivity through Team Snap). Email is still an adulting, life skill.
So, should I put my cell phone numbers down?
Yes, please do. I do appreciate having all parents and players cell phone numbers so that I may contact you if there is a need.
I am getting remind messages about my son’s practice and games every day on my email.
I really don’t want this.
I don’t blame you. I have tried to set up the default settings on our MHS Kernel Boys account so that it only sends out personally written correspondence from the head coach. My preference is that I don’t want a computer filling my parents and players email inboxes.
There is now a "My Preferences Tab." Here you can set what you want to receive, and what you don't.
If you feel like you have the event on your Calendar, and don't need Team Snap reminding you via email, then turn off the automatic event / game notices.
Does that mean I won’t get Coach Novak’s emails either?
If you turn off ALL emails . . . then yes. Please don't do that.
I like the idea of having the SCHEDULE TAB, but I don’t want to have to log on to TeamSnap every time I want to see the MHS Boys Calendar. How can I merge the MHS Training Schedule and Game Schedule to my Google Calendar? ANSWER, CLICK HERE.
So, is there anything else I need to do?
You may print out (either in list format or calendar format) our training and game schedule.
If you will be gone for a game, please tell the coach face-to-face, but you may also mark an “X” on the AVAILABILITY TAB for your absent game.
You may download a picture of your player for the ROSTER TAB.
You may view old emails sent out by the coach under the MESSAGES TAB.
You may open documents (Spirit Wear Order Form, ex., Three Weeks Schedule PDF, ex.) under the MEDIA TAB.
